The Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University is situated in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the youngest central Universities in India. The territorial jurisdiction of this University extends over the entire state of Uttar Pradesh. It is a residential University and the Vidya Vihar campus is located near the Rae Bareli Road, which is in the south of the Charbagh Railway Station at a distance of 10 kilometers.
The University consists of five schools namely, School for Ambedkar Studies, School for Information Science and Technology, School for Environmental Sciences, School for Bio-Sciences and Bio -Technology and School for Legal Studies. The School for Ambedkar Studies mainly consists of two departments, the Department of Economics and the Department of History. The School for Information Science and Technology consist of the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Library and Information Science. The School for Environmental Sciences consists of only one department, Department of Environmental Sciences. The School for Bio-Sciences and Bio -Technology has two departments, Department of Applied Sciences and the Department of Applied Animal Sciences. The School of Legal Studies has the Department of Human Rights.
