B. R. Ambedkar Bihar University was set up in the year 1960.It is situated at Muzzafarpur in Bihar. It was previously known as Bihar Univesrity.The University is a Public University and has the recognition of the University Grant Commission.The University offers udergraduate ,postgraduate and research oriented programmes in various disciplines.

Several courses are also conducted through distance mode.Apart from that, the University regularly arranges symposia, seminars and workshops on different subjects.The University has 37 constituent colleges and several affiliated colleges.The Central library of the University contains 1,15,350 rare Books thesis ,reports and several journals of India and abroad. The library has computer facilities.
