One cannot easily forget the manipulative and malicious Aparna in the hugely popular Balaji soap `Kasautii Zindagi Kay`. Well that is Gitanjali Tikekar for you. She is believed to be the last vamp to enter into the world of television. Earlier she has made her presence felt in another two very popular shows `Kya Hadsa Kya Haqeeqat` and `Kahin Toh Milenge`. In those two soaps however she was portrayed as a character with a noble set of mind.

In `Kasauti` she made her entry as the `adarsh nari` or ideal woman in the life of Anurag (played by Cezanne Khan). She went unnoticed in the initial stages and became famous overnight when her character displayed the utmost negative shades. In the initial stages however she was quite apprehensive in coming with terms that her character is going to turn negative but after she started enjoying the initial adulation for the sudden change in her character, she worked even harder on her performances. Soon after her character went off the screen for a while and then she made a huge comeback again with a set of whole new conspiracies against the Bajaj and Basu family.

The very talented Gitanjali Tikekar does not want to make an entry into the Bollywood Film Industry. She claims that she would not be comfortable in being part of the passionate lovemaking scenes, which has become an integral part of the life of every Bollywood actress. According to her the best thing about acting is the most flexible way to live her dream apart from earning name and fame.

. At present Gitanjali Tikekar is very very happy with the character of Maya that she is enacting in another Balaji saga `Karam Apna Apna`. She plays the only sister of one of the central characters of the plot named Mahen (played by Salil Ankola). She acts as the typical sister-in-law and is also very status conscious. She wants her son to get a share in the family property and is very jealous of the daughter-in-law of the house Gauri (played by Pallavi Subhash). Initially she was portrayed as a vamp but gradually her fans started seeing positive shades in her character.

On the personal front however she is very happy the way her characters are getting popular with the small screen viewers. She has also received a formal training in acting from the grooming school of Ashish Bhuiya who is a model coordinator based in Pune. However this extremely talented actress is a staunch believer of God and asserts the fact that God is within her heart and she always prefer to listen to her heart and following that all her wishes get granted by God. This actress is sure to go a long way in the approaching times.
