In order to acquire a complete knowledge about any town it becomes imperative for that curious person first to gather information about Khawhai town `s demography. In this matter, a special mentioning needs to be bestowed upon the Census report that has been brought out in the year 2001. It effectively highlights certain aspects of its demography like population status, literacy condition etc. According to this report, the total population

of Khawhai has been measured to be 2408. Not only that enough possibilities are provided in order to know the population of males and females individually. In other words, male populace constitutes of 51 percent while the rate of female literacy is 49 percent. In Khawhai town, 17 percent of the total population comprises of children who are below six years of age.

Since literacy rate is a yardstick for measuring the growth of a particular town, it can be deduced that development also has occurred in Khawhai. This basic derivation is possible to establish on the basis of the fact that the average literacy rate of Khawhai is even higher than that of the whole nation of India. 78 percent and 59.5 percent are the rates of average literacy of Khawhai and India respectively. Quite remarkably, also there is little difference between the rate of literacy of both males and females in Khawhai. Thus male literacy constitutes of 79 percent, while the rate of female literacy is only a percent less, i.e. 78 percent.
