Shilpa Shetty was born on 8th June 1975 in Karnataka. This actress cum model made her debut with the film `Baazigar` in the year 1994 that became an instant hit. Since then she has never looked back. She has nearly appeared in more than 50 films in different languages and has established her own identity. Her first leading role was in `Aag` opposite to Govinda in the year 1994. She played as a police inspector who comes to the village as a young village girl to arrest the convict.

The most significant and notable achievement in the life of Shilpa Shetty has been her victory in British Celebrity show Big Brother on January 2007 with 63% of votes being showered on her. As a result it brought an international stardom in her career. With lots of racial controversy involving the incident, she still emerged as victorious. She belongs from traditional close-knit family in Mangalore. With expertise in speaking of more than 10 Indian languages, Shilpa Shetty is a celebrity with beauty and brains. She can speak Kannada, Marathi, Gujrati, Telegu, English and so on. Her extra curricular activities also involve her expertise in the field of Martial Arts like Karate. Being a black belt, she has kept her body as fit and flexible.

Shilpa Shetty started her career by modeling for Limca in the year 1991 at the age of just 16. With her extraordinary performance in the debut film `Baazigar`; she was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Award in Filmfare. Her first major box-office hit in a leading role came with the movie `Main Khiladi Tu Anari` where she was starred opposite to Akshay Kumar. Other major films that she acted were `Dhadkan`, `Rishtey`, performance in Rishtey and `Pardesi Babu` and so on. She received critical acclaim and won the award for Best Supporting Actress for the movie `Pardesi Babu`. Her works were also widely acclaimed in the movie `Dhadkan`. Her classic comic performance in `Rishtey` as a fisherwoman was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress. In the year 2007 she again delighted the audiences with her performances in the Bollywood chartbusters `Life In A Metro` and Apne. She had done cameo appearances in Om Shanti Om and Dostana.

Shilpa Shetty has done many movies in other regional languages, which include `Veedeva Dani Babu` which was a Telugu film. With the release of the movie `Dus` where she was offered the role opposite to Sanjay Dutt, it enhanced her acting prowess beyond limits. She has now been married to Raj Kundra, a businessman. Of late she has been into various types of business partnering along with her husband. She is one of the co owners of Rajasthan Royals team of the Indian Premier League. She has also launched her own Yoga CDs too.
