The extremely popular show `Kaboom` was a dance talent hunt hosted by makers of `Boogie Woogie`.

Talent hunt shows are becoming very popular with the Indian television audiences with the passage of time. The extremely popular show Kaboom was hosted by the popular anchors of another similar show named `Boogie Woogie`, Naved Jaffery and Ravi Behl. It was a weekly show, which used to be aired on the Star Plus channel in the evening slots on Saturdays at 8p.m. It opened its account on the channel with a prize amount worth Rs. 50 lakhs. The show also claimed that no dance show ever hosted on Indian television has banked upon such a hefty sum of prize money. There were also lots of variations, which were tried out at different stages of the show.

The star attraction of the show Kaboom, however remains to be the superstar Prabhu Deva, who has been honored with National Awards for his dancing talents. He at once agreed to act as the judge of the show as all of them share the same passion called `dance`. It is in fact his first television venture and also considered himself to be very fortunate that he got the offer to judge the best dancing talents of India. The show searched for talents from all the four zones and zeroes in on the best dancer. Both men and women solo category in the age group of 14 to 30 was one of the main features of the show.

Initially the participants were told to bring in their own costumes but in the later stages they were provided by the production house. The popularity of Kaboom on screen was limited to a certain section of audience. However the glamour of the show was multiplied when renowned Bollywood stars like Sridevi, Vivek Oberoi and Tabassum were invited on the show as judges.
