Sumit Sachdev is no more an unfamiliar name on the small screen. This brilliant actor was actually born in Canada who grew up to be a designing artiste in the capital of the Indian subcontinent. He is in fact more popular by the name of Gautam than Sumit. He gained instant recognition and fame with this character, which almost made him a household name.

The mannerism of the character has gone down so well with the character that he had been the winner of several awards for the role. Recently he is also seen in another popular Balaji show `Karam Apna Apna`. In it he plays the fiancé of the lead protagonist Gauri (played by Pallavi Subhash). This actor hails from the tinsel town and has completed his education and was going well with his career as an engineer. But destiny had other plans for him and took a break for his designing structures and did an Amir Raza Hussain play `The Fifty Day War` which has been one long successful stretch. The soap portrayed the gradual transformation of Gautam from a spoilt brat to a responsible individual. He has also been seen in another super hit show `Yeh Meri Life Hai` where he plays the role of the prospective groom of the lead female protagonist Pooja (played by Shama Sikander).

Sumit Sachdev will also be seen in another popular Balaji show `Khwahish`. In this soap he will be seen playing a character who hails from a very opulent family and is at the same time very affectionate and responsible. He is also portrayed as a guy who is simple, calm and down-to-earth. On the whole `Khwahish` is a story that deals with the popular Muslim culture and customs.

He also meted out brilliant performances in another Balaji show `Kya Hadsa Kya Haqeeqat`. He also made his film debut with the movie called `Khall` but that did not have any impact on the audiences. He also claims that he have to wait for a considerable span to make his re-entry into the Indian Film Industry to establish a strong footage there so that the audiences will miss him terribly in his absence which will in turn inspire him to come back at regular intervals with performance-oriented roles. He also plans to stick to career-oriented roles.

On the personal front Sumit Sachdev is a pretty chilled out character unlike his character on-screen which is shown as a very aggressive one. The only similarity in their character is that they both are quite firm. He is also not quite prone to impulsive decisions. He does not want to explore any other production house other than Balaji as he feels that the nuances of the other shows are quite short-lived which decreases his acting potential. He also features in a 13-episode thriller called `Carbon Copy`.

He also thinks that he has come a long way in the television industry and that has also helped him to make a mark in the telly world. He also plans to be a part of the musical theater some day as music forms an integral part of his life. He does not want to be the part of the rat race that is always keeping the actors on their toes. Instead he wants to reach the peak in his career in the due course of time. Over all he wants to be known as a good person in life.
