Nandini Singh has been regarded as one of the gifted performer in the scenario of Kathak dance.

Nandini Singh , Kathak DancerThe expert critics have recognized Nandini Singh as the `very epitome of feminine grace and allure`. She is said to carry poetry within her body. Through her performances, her audiences are being mesmerized and unconventionally get for a sojourn to a magic world of Kathak. Nandini Singh is considered to be one of the exponents of Jaipur Gharana Kathak who ranked in the top most position. She has been ornamented with several laurels throughout her professional career.

Nandini Singh was born on 7th June in the year 1952. She has been introduced to the world of Kathak with the hand of her mother Late Janaki Devi. Janaki Devi was a singer of high repute. Nandini Singh has bagged the opportunity to be trained under great exponents of Kathak. Guru Hiralal, Guru Ganeshi Hiralal and Pt. Sunder Prasad are the gurus who brought her to the magic world of Kathak. She eventually imbibed the finest qualities of Kathak dance from them.

Nandini Singh made her debut performance through the Smt. Niana Devi`s Raag Rang conference that was enriched with the maestros like Ustad. Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad. Hafiz Ali Khan, Badi Moti Bai. Besides the performances of these maestros, her performances also received acclamation from the audiences. She was at her teenage at that time. She was praised for the most commonly used traits in kathak that she performed at the conference - `whirlwind brhamaris, sharp and neat tihaees, difficult chakradhars`.

Nandini SinghThus the raising of Nandini Singh as an accomplished classical Kathak dancer can other wisely be said `blossoming into one of the finest new generation Kathak dancers`. By the late 60`s, Nandini Singh earned a strong position in the domain of Kathak dance. But even then she was continuously pursuing for the perfections. For that she went under guidance from Pt. Devi Lal and Durga Lal. After receiving further Knowledge in Kathak from them, she added handful perfection in her performances. Nandini Singh performed in many recitals over the years throughout India and outside India. She got married in the year 1971. Then a major gap took place in her dancing career for a decade. But she made her come back in the year 1986 in the filed of Kathak. It was a great gap of 15 years.

Nandini Singh`s performance combines a fine tune of Nritta, Abhinaya and Lyrical Beauty. She has also composed many chorographical works to her credit. She has executed her performances in many festivals of high repute throughout the world. She has performed in Russia, Turkmenistan, Khrigystan, USA, UK Germany, Caribbean Islands, West Indies, Afghanistan, Mauritius, Sri Lanka etc. Nandini Singh teaches her students the `sensibilities and aesthetics of dance` through her classes. She also conducts several lecture demonstrations and concerts to spread the consciousness all over India. In the year 1996, she has founded a charitable organization namely, "Vaasuki Natyashala".

Nandini Singh is an excellent dancer of great repute. Her charming personality also complemented her performances. She has also proved to be a good tutor. Currently she is serving as the tutor at Sri Ram Bhartiya Kala Kendra. In the year 1998, she has been conferred the `Best Teacher award` by the Raja Ram Mohan Roy foundation. Nandini Singh has also received the highly esteemed award like: Chirag -e- Nau, Rajasthan Rang Manch award, Abivyakti Kala Sangam award, Outstanding Woman of the Year award by Indian Air Force etc. the Government of India has also awarded her the `Senior Fellowship` to conduct research on Parans in Kathak.
