The study of any place or town is incomplete without the knowledge of its demography. For this reason, the demographers have tried hard to identify the true demographical scenario of the Kaugachhi town. Several survey and research works have been conducted which help one to know it in true sense. Amongst them, the Census report is relevant. Being published in the year 2001, this census report depicts certain important facts like population status, literacy rate etc. Thus according to the report, the total population of Kaugachhi has been measured to be 13,904. Status of female, males also can be deciphered from it. For example the population of male constitutes of 51 percent, while female population is 49 percent only. In Kaugachhi town, 10 percent of the total population is below six years of age.
Literacy rate too is important. It is to be noted that the average literacy rate of Kaugachhi is 72 percent which is higher than the average literacy rate of India which is 59.5 percent To be specific, male literacy rate is 76 percent and female literacy rate is 67 percent.
Just like other districts of India, majority of the people of North 24 Parganas carry on agricultural activities. Some of them also have taken up jobs like any other service holders. In order to carry on conversation, the people here speak mainly in Bengali language. Due to the integrity with the district it is obvious that the residents of Kaugachhi too are going to follow the same trend and tradition of the district.
