Festivals that are feted here are mostly religious thus sufficing the needs of people of the district. Deepavali , Ramzan and Christmas are celebrated in Kannyakumari with lots of vigor and enthusiasm.
Food habits of the people also are at par with the culture and tradition of the entire district. Amongst the population, there are some people who have had preferences for vegetarian meals. However, maximum of the people like non-vegetarian food dishes like agro, meat and fish. Using grated coconut in various food items and also in curries is a specialty of the food habit of this region.
