| Jhunjhunu District is situated in the Shekhawati region of the western state of India, Rajasthan. The district is located in the northeastern part of Rajasthan spread over an area of 5929 sq. km. The administrative headquarters is in the historical city of Jhunjhunu. It is surrounded by the Churu District in the north and northwest, Sikar District in the southwest, and the districts of Hissar and Mahendragarh of Haryana in the northeast.
Most part of the district is semi-desert. The Aravalli ranges are spread in the southeastern part of the district. The Aravalli ranges which fall in the Singhana and the Khetri suburbs have rich copper deposits. Lohargal, is a popular pilgrimage destination in the ranges.
The innumerable historical monuments, ancient havelis embellished with fresco paintings and other palatial buildings are prime attractions for the tourists visiting the district. The paintings of these havelis bear ample testimony to the rich cultural heritage of the district. There are many havelis in the prominent towns of the district, which includes Jhunjhunu, Mandawa, Nawalgarh, Mukundgarh, Dundlod, Bissau, Mahansar, Chirawa and Palani. The other major attractions are Chhatri of Thakur Sardul Singh, Gopinathji Temple, Satyanarayan Temple, Sri Ranisatiji Mandir, and the Khetri Mahal. This district is one of the prosperous districts of Rajasthan.
