The very talented actress Anju Mahendru has made a mark in both the mediums as a powerhouse performer.

Anju MahendruAnju Mahendru is a very talented actress of the Indian Film Industry as well as of the Indian Television Industry. She was born on 11th January. The renowned poet and lyricist Kaifi Azmi discovered her. She started modeling just at the age of 13. She was very actively involved into theater when Kaifi Azmi spotted her. He recommended her to the popular filmmaker Basu Bhattacharya and that is how she got her first break in `Uski Kahaani`.

In fact she rose to stardom during the sixties and seventies but she could never make it to the role of the leading lady. She made a move to the character roles and also made brief appearances in some Bollywood flicks of the eighties and nineties. In the later stages of the 1990 era she made a great comeback in the world of acting by appearing in some hugely popular television soaps. In fact the character portrayal of Ranjana Devi in the very popular television series `Swabhimaan` received many accolades.

In her film career also she was not left back by her contemporaries. She appeared in the super hit Bollywood movie `Saathiya` in the year 2003 and meted out brilliant performances alongside Rani Mukherjee and Vivek Oberoi. She also enacted a brief role in another hit Bollywood flick `Page 3`. In the year 2006 again her huge fan following was glad to see her in the Bollwyood chartbuster `Humko Deewana Kar Gaye` alongside the very popular actor Akshay Kumar and the glamorous damsel Katrina Kaif.

On the personal front also Anju Mahendru was famed for her relationship with the very popular Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna. She was also briefly engaged with the West Indies cricketer Gary Sobers. She is also very close to the veteran Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi whose father owes the credit of discovering such a gifted acting talent. In the Bollywood fraternity she is also very close to the renowned filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, so she also opted to act in the movie directed by him titled `Page 3`.

Among her favorite actors Naseeruddin Shah tops the list of her inspirations. She claims that both the mediums of television and films are equal for an actor but as actor she finds the medium of television to be much engaging and active. She is also very active in her personal life by engaging herself in three passions, that is, caring for animals, indulging herself completely in genre of classical music and also the art of gardening. She also claims that she is so attached to the art of acting that she could never think of anything else other than acting. In fact she feels that she was born to act. In the matter of roles also she feels that she is better in the emotional ones but she has gained popularity more in the negative roles.
