The veteran actress Alka Kaushal came to the arclight by playing the role of Sukanya bua in the very popular afternoon daily `Kumkum` aired on the Star Plus channel. She feels quite at ease playing the vampish character who makes the life of the lead female protagonist a complete hell in the afternoon soap. She is also surprised how fast the hate wave is creating and the track is doing so well. Some audiences are even going to the extent of comparing the role of the protagonist with that of the vamp. She claims that it is all her job and she feels she is doing it very well. When her look is criticized she claims that it is the style that the vamps should just look beautiful and not be beautiful by heart.


In the real life however Alka Kaushal is far away from her onscreen character, as she cannot even identify herself with such a character. She does not want to believe that such people actually exist in the real life. When people come to her and asks what gives her the right to make the life of Kumkum hell she feels glad about the giving the best of her abilities. This very talented actress has also worked in soaps like `Gaatha` and `Tum Pukaar Lo` and wooed the small screen viewers by splendid performances. She claims that theater has always been her first love and that acting happened to her by chance as she was quite an active participant of elocution and dramatics in school. She made her television debut in the hugely popular show `Shanti` in the role of Ayesha and since then she never had to look back.
