Suryanarayana Murthy, a highly skilled dancer, is also a popular teacher of Bharatanatyam.

Suryanarayana MurthySuryanarayana Murthy is regarded as the seventh generation Dancer Teacher, who belongs to one of the 15 original traditional Bhagavatulu families of dancers. These Bhagavatulu families of dancers were the teachers of Kuchipudi village in the Indian state Andhra Pradesh. So it was quiet obvious that he will follow the age old tradition of his family. Suryanarayana Murthy had his induction into Kuchipudi dance at a very early age. For three years he underwent training at Kalakshetra in Bharatanatyam. Afterwards he continued further studies at Bharatha Kalanjali under the Dhananjayans.

In the year 1988, Murthy had his debut and has participated in many dance productions since then. These dance productions were mainly produced by Bharatha Kalanjali. To name his few dance production, Rama Natakam, Sangamitra, Navarasa, Iyyakiya Bharatham has gained applause. In the year 1987, he has toured USSR as a member of Bharatha Kalanjali troupe to participate in the Festival of India. He has also bagged the privilege honor of performing in Pandit Ravishankar`s creation Ghanashyam, at the Sri Meenakshi Temple Maha Kumbhabishekam at Houston. He has also performed in the International Dance Alliance`s dance ballet "Krishnam Vande Jagatgurum". The Indo-American Association at Houston organized the "Kanya" in which he was also a part of the composition. "Jungle Book" was staged with collaboration between the Ohio Ballet and Bharata Kalanjali Dance Company of Chennai at Cleveland in the United States where he has performed.

Suryanarayana Murthy has also performed through far famed artist and his guide, Dr.Nagaswamy`s dance productions. With dance companies, he has toured Russia, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Germany, London, USA and France. Under the guidance of Dr.Nagaswamy, Murthy he has done research on Thevaram and Thirupugazh.

Suryanarayana MurthySuryanarayana Murthy has partaken programmes at Sankarabharanam Madras (Chennai), Shivali Cultural Society, Kalotsavam of ABHAI and Natyanjali Festival at Chidambaram. At the Natarajotsava of Vasundhara Performing Arts Centre, Mysore, he has given executions. The Directorate of Art and Culture and the South Zone Cultural Centre, Nrityotsava organized Thendral Thiruvizha at Trivandrum. He has also performed at the Natya Kala Conference at Sri Krishna Gana Sabha. These are few to name. Suryanarayana Murthy has also been regarded as a fantabulous choreographer. He has also choreographed many dance ballets with his skillful creativity assimilating into it.

For his distinguished performance, several awards have been conferred to him. The Dhananjayans conferred the title of "Natya Purna" He is the recipient of the "Yuva Kala Bharathi" award conferred by the Bharat Kalachar, Madras (presently known as Chennai). The Ministry of Human Resources, New Delhi, India on his research work on Thevarams, also awarded Suryanarayana Murthy a scholarship. As a Nattuvanar, Suryanarayana Murthy has become a participant in dance concerts of many eminent dancers. He is also a proficient performer in Kuchipudi and Kathakali styles of dancing. At Doordarshan, Suryanarayana Murthy has been honored as an "A" grade artiste.

Suryanarayana Murthy is also a popular teacher of Bharatanatyam apart from being an accomplished dancer. His commitment and exclusive devotion to the cause has delivered fruit. In the form of his dance schools "BHARATA KSHETRA", today he is endeavoring to shape his cherished dream in Chennai. From there he goes forward his mission of channeling knowledge of dance to his disciples.
