The very beautiful and charming Shubhangi Aatre essays the character of the female lead in the new Balaji show `Kasturi`. She was also seen playing a small role in another very popular Balaji show `Kasautii Zingagii Kay`. She originally hails from Indore and has completed her studies in Management. She is also a trained classical dancer. She did not receive any formal lessons in the art of dancing and neither has she done any theater. Since she was a dancer she got the offer of few ad campaigns and soon after one of her photographer friends told that there were auditions going in Pune for a Balaji venture. The same friend also advised her to try her luck in the audition. She gave the audition for `Kasturi` but was selected for the character portrayal in `Kasauti`.

The character of Shubhangi Aatre in the serial `Kasturi` is very similar to that of her own. She also hails from a middle class family and is also very ambitious in life. She has three sisters and is very close to her family. In the soap she plays the role of an ambitious person but never forgets her traditions and the values that have been imbibed into her by her parents. In the soap `Kasauti Zindagi Kay` she plays an innocent girl who was left on the day of her wedding by her would-be husband Soham. She was then married to Prem (played by Vikas Sethi) and falls love with him post-marriage. She is not only excited about her new role but also very nervous as the lead role means extra amount of responsibilities. She however does not want to get stereotyped in a particular role. She would love to portray different roles with different shades. On the personal front she is a very happy and contented individual. She has been living in Pune for about 2 years with her husband who is a marketing manager for Arrowhead, Barter Company.
