Sheejith Krishna , Indian Dancer
An accomplishing dancer and choreographer, Sheejith Krishna, was broached into dance from the early age of eight.

Sheejith KrishnaSheejith Krishna was inducted into dance from the early age of eight. He is a playacting dancer and choreographer. His first guru behind him for guidance was his father, Shri Kannur Balakrishnan. Shri Kannur Balakrishnan was a Bharathanatyam and Folk dance artiste and has also been served as the Director of "Noopuram", a School of Fine Arts in Kerala. His mother, Smt. Manorama Balakrishnan, a Bharathanatyam and Mohiniyattam artiste herself has also the inspiring force behind him. Under the tutelage of his parents, Sheejith Krishna`s initial training began. Under Shri Kalamandalam Ramakrishnan, he perfected his skills by learning "mridangam". He has also taken lessons under the able tutorship of Ghatam Vidwan Shri T.H.Vinayakaram and Shri T.R.Sundareshan.

Sheejith Krishna has a quest for knowledge in the field of art. It eventually brought him to Smt.Rukmini Devi`s world celebrated institution, "Kalakshetra". Sheejith Krishna also nourished his vocal talent under Shri S.Rajaram, apart from his stringent training in Bharathanatyam. Shri S. Rajaram was the director of Kalakshetra. Sheejith Krishna has also vocal training under Salem Shri Chellam Iyengar. At the "Kalakshetra" he did the 4-year diploma course in Bharatnatyam and after that he continued with his post graduation in Bharatnatyam. He passed out with a first class degree from the "Kalakshetra".

Sheejith KrishnaAfter acknowledging his efforts and contribution to the field of Bharatnatyam, the Government of Kerala awarded him the title of "Kalapratibha". The Kalai Magal Sabha as a good performing artiste also honored him. In several of Smt.Rukmini Devi`s dance productions, he was given the leading roles to perform. His roles were well appreciated in Smt.Lakshmi Viswanathan`s "Banyan Tree" and Shri Lalgudi Jayaraman`s "Jaya Jaya Devi". In the annual festival of the Cultural Embassy of France, he was invited to perform. The festival was held at Paris.

Apart from such prestigious performances, Sheejith Krishna has also choreographed Jathiswarams, Varnams, Keerthanams, Thillanas etc. His inaugural adventure into the field of dance drama was acclaimed as a unique production. His creation was titled as "Marthyan". Smt.Jyothishmathi Sheejith Krishna, wife of Sheejith Krishna is also a postgraduate from Kalakshetra. She assists him with the musical scores for his compositions. Presently, Sheejith Krishna as a staff member of Smt.Rukmini Devi`s Kalakshetra, goes forward to extemporize himself more significantly to the need for the dedicated students, who have carve a niche for themselves in the field of art.

During a dance festival "Ilamai Inimai Pudumai", which was presented by Leela Shekar for International Dance Alliance (IDA), Sheejith Krishna got an opportunity to perform there. He was praised for his presentation of excerpts of Marthyan. Through his creation he tired to convey the meaning of the evolution of human beings. `Sheejith Krishna possess very tactful blend of the style of dance.
