Shalini Khanna has already made a name in both the film and television industry. This brilliant actress is a post-graduate in Advertising and Public Relations from the Bhopal University. It was after this that she made Mumbai her home and acting her career. She has not only worked in many tele-soaps but also acted in a 10 minutes National Award Winning film in the last year titled `Mangli`. In the television she made her debut with the popular Balaji family drama titled `Kutumb`. She also played a very important character in another soap called `Karishma` which was aired on Sony Television. She is now currently seen in the Star Plus afternoon daily `Kumkum`. She also made a brief appearance in the serial called `Saara Akaash` on the Star Plus channel. She was also seen in the romantic comedy soap `Jab Love Hua` where she plays the role of a village lasso who sacrifice her love for the interest of the person she shares a deep like here. She considers herself fortunate enough to have got the opportunity to work with the legendary lyricist, poet and writer Gulzaar. She also acted in the telefilm titled `Godaan`. In this tele-film she got the chance to portray the character of Pankaj Kapoor`s elder daughter. She claims that it was indeed a rewarding experience for having bagged the opportunity to work with them. She also claims that she is open to work in any medium as long as the role is substantial. She remarked in a recent interview "all I want is an outlet to express myself".
Shalini Khanna made her commercial film debut by the Bollywood flick `7 ½ Phere`. In this film she plays the character of Kavita who was a writer in the renowned director Ishaan Trivedi`s movie starring the Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla and the substantial Bollywood hero Irrfan Khan. In fact the film was a comedy, which speaks of the intrusion of the electronic media in the lives of common people. Shalini claims that she plays the assistant to the character of Juhi Chawla. She works for a television channel in the bid to get some spicy stories from the wedding house and works in cooperation with Juhi Chawla. The actress also claims that Juhi Chalwa is great fun to work with and is like a positive bubble, full of life and energy. She further says that she would not distance herself as because she is a star and together they have added many bits to the film to make it a huge success. She had lots of fond memories of the film `7 ½ Phere` and declared that it was not only an interesting role but also an interesting film. But this simple and down-to-earth actress claims that she does not want to get too excited about the success she has achieved, as that is only a part of her dream.
