In the state of Madhya Pradesh, Harrai is situated in the Chhindwara district with a population of 9438.

Amongst several cities and towns that have grown in large numbers in the state of Madhya Pradesh , Harrai deserves mentioning. In the Chhindwara district, Harrai is a town . Just like many other places of the Indian Territory, Harrai too is being administered by a `nagar panchayat` .

Strategic location too is quite important. Harrai is situated at 22.62° N 79.22° E. Also it has got an average height of 588 metres or 1929 feet.

The study of the demography of Harrai will help one to enlighten with certain important factual details. As per the Indian census report of the year 2001, the total population of the Harrai has been enumerated to be 9438. Out of the total population, males comprise of 51 percent, while females constitute of 49 percent. In Harrai, 17 percent of the total population is below the age of six years.

Another interesting thing of Harrai also has been deciphered from the report. Since the literacy rate is an important yardstick of development, it can be said that the Harrai is quite developed. In other words, the average literacy rate of Harrai is 60 percent, which is higher than the national average rate. Average literacy rate of the entire region is 59.5 percent. To be specific, male literacy rate is 69 percent and female literacy rate is 52 percent.
