The city of Harda is situated in the Harda district of the state of Madhya Pradesh .

Quite a number of cities, places and regions are seen to have grown in the state of Madhya Pradesh itself. Harda is one such city, which is located in the district of Harda and also gets controlled by a municipality. In fact the Harda is the `administrative headquarters` of the same state. The historical significance of the place too has been established. Even in the history of `Mugals , it has been found out that an affluent village Handiya was located on the western side of Harda.

The city of Harda is situated at 22.33° N 77.1° E. It has an average altitude of 296 metres or 971 feet.

There are some demographers who have tried to enlighten people with the demographical data of the Harda city as a whole. The Census report of India that has been brought out in the year 2001 is quite significant. Truly, it has thrown light on literacy situation as well as the population status. As per its report, the total population has been enumerated to be 61,712. Out of the total population, males comprises of 52 percent, while the female populace constitute of 48 percent. In Harda, 14 percent of the total population is below six years of age.

What is really interesting is that Harda has an average literacy rate of 74 percent . It is higher than the average of the entire nation, which is counted to be 59.5 percent. Out of it, male literacy rate has been measured to be 80 percent, and female literacy rate is as much as 67 percent.
