Nahar, the male protagonist of the show not only saves her from the punishment that the villagers want to mete out to her for the wrong deeds of her brother but also brings her back to his home and keeps her as the family maid. She becomes very fond of her master Nahar and it is to that extent that it reminds of the Lord Krishna devotee Meerabai. Gunjan was also seen in the very popular 'Aisa Des Hai Mera' where she will be playing the role of the protagonist Krishna. Her character mainly revolves around the issue whether the would-be daughter-in-law ever become the daughter of the house? The whole story however revolves around Krishna who has tied the knot with the son of Vijaypath Raichand, Abhay who apparently leaves her without citing any reasons.
Acting for Gunjan Walia is not a new medium as she had her brush with acting in a series of Balaji soaps, which almost made her a household name. She had also harbored dreams of making it big in the world of acting. She started her career as a cabin crewmember with Jet Airways. She went to the Balaji office and gave in her pictures just to try her luck and to her surprise she got a call from for the role of Kartika in a matter of few days. Since then there was no looking back for this charming actor. She is fortunate enough and confidently remarks, "I am a blessed child to have been blessed with such good offers". Her foray into the world of television began with Balaji's 'Kartika' on Hungama TV where she played the role of Kartika/ she had also done cameos in other popular Balaji shows 'Kesar', 'Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' and 'Kya Kahein'.
