In the archaeological park in Mehrauli, is this tomb and mosque. A large group of buildings as you walk uphill. Opposite Metcalfe`s folies. Jamali was the pet name of Sheikh Fazullah, a poet and traveler who died in fifteen thirty six, and was buried here. The mosque is slightly later in date, and is more ruined in state. The tomb is in a beautifully swept and tranquil enclosure. This tomb is kept locked. The flat ceiling is decorated with a beautiful pattern incised in plasterwork, painted red and blue. The walls combine plasterwork with inlaid encaustic tiles. Particularly fine are the roundels in the squinches and decorated panels over the door and windows all in different geometric patterns. There are two matching marble graves inside, the central one is that of Jamali.
